When counting your stitches in single crochet, each bump is 1 stitch.

When crocheting there will be an edge section that is your turning chain, this does not count as a stitch.

When counting your rows in single crochet, you should see that you have a bump which is 1 row and a flatter row. When working back and forth, you will alternate between these 2 row types.

When counting your double crochet stitches, notice it is a more open fabric, so it is easier to count your stitches.

Remember you have a turning chain you won’t count as a stitch. Each cluster is a stitch.

When counting rows, you can see that each one of these clusters is 1 row.
