Knit up to the dropped stitch.

Count the horizontal strands behind the dropped stitch to see how many rows you need to pick up, taking care to not twist these strands.

Take hold of the dropped stitch and the horizontal strand directly above it, then pass the horizontal strand through the stitch from back to front to create a new stitch.

When done correctly, the stitch will look the same as the other stitches either side of your dropped stitch.

Repeat step 3 for each of the remaining strands.

The picked up stitch hasn’t yet been knitted for the current row, so place it onto your left needle ready to be knitted, and continue knitting your row as normal.
