Step by Step

How to Knit: Fixing a Dropped Stitch (Stocking Stitch) - Step 1

Step 1

Knit up to the dropped stitch.

Step 2

Count the horizontal strands behind the dropped stitch to see how many rows you need to pick up, taking care to not twist these strands.

Step 3

Take hold of the dropped stitch and the horizontal strand directly above it, then pass the horizontal strand through the stitch from back to front to create a new stitch.

When done correctly, the stitch will look the same as the other stitches either side of your dropped stitch.
