Step by Step

Step 1

Thread roughly an arms length of your first colour.

Start about 1cm away from your hole, through a knit stitch starting from the back.

Pull it through and leave roughly a 10cm tail you will weave in later.

Do a simple running stitch over the top of the knit stitch and underneath.

Bring your needle up 1 row, and come back the other way, alternating the row of stitching.

Where the hole begins, just take your yarn all the way across and continue your running stitch on the other side.

Continue building the base of your weave over your hole, until you have completely filled in the section.

When you have finished with your hole, stitch through your fabric as you did in your first row and leave your tail to the back of the piece.

Take your second colour, and thread the needle with about an arms length of yarn.

Begin to stitch vertically, leaving a 10cm tail at the back to weave in later.

Thread the second colour underneath all of the first colour stitches that are on the fabric.

Bring your needle into the knit stitch and through the back to anchor in the second colour.

You can come back up where the next row of horizontal stitches are.

Once you reach the hole, you will weave in your second colour into your first colour.

Continue weaving back and forth across your hole, over and under the first colour, until your desired space is filled. Thread the second colour underneath all of the first colour stitches that are on the fabric. Put your needle to the back of your piece and weave in your ends to complete.
